For the past 32 years, the Iranian regime has pledged to destroy the United States, or the "Great Satan" as Iran's leaders call it.
Now that Iran is on the verge of acquiring nuclear weapons, the country appears closer than ever to accomplishing that goal.
The Iranians --took out apostrophe -- believe America is a declining power and they're bringing the fight to U.S. soil.
Joel Rosenberg talked about some hypothetical situations involving Iran and the U.S. and his new book 'The Tehran Initiative' on "The 700 Club," Oct. 18.
Recent examples of the Islamic regime's threat to the U.S. include:
- U.S. investigators recently foiled a plot to assassinate Saudi and Israeli diplomats inside Washington, D.C.
- An Iranian commander has warned that the country's submarines may soon patrol waters off the U.S. coastline.
- Iran continues building long-range missiles that could reach the continental United States.
Those missiles could very soon be nuclear-tipped, according to U.S. and Israeli estimates on Iran's nuclear weapons program.
"Israel has warned that the military option is on the table when it comes to Iran's nuclear weapons program," investigative reporter Ken Timmerman told CBN News.
But as the threat rises, the Obama administration has cautioned against military action - despite polls saying most Americans would support such a move.
In his new book, The Tehran Initiative, best-selling author Joel Rosenberg envisions an Israeli government restrained by Washington as the Iranian nuclear issue spirals out of control.
He considers a series of worst-case scenarios involving Iran, the U.S. and Israel, even concluding that the "world is on the brink of disaster" if no action is taken.
