Yemen President Ali Abdullah Saleh promised Thursday to put a new constitution to a referendum this year and move to a "parliamentary system," including a new election law.
Saleh's comments in a speech showed live on Yemeni television come after widespread pro-democracy protests throughout the Arabian peninsula country over the past month demanding an end to his 32-year rule.
